About the event

This consultation will be an opportunity for youth to engage directly with the COP29 Presidency Youth Climate Champion, and thereby provide inputs for consideration in the ongoing planning for COP29 in Baku and as part of implementation of the PYCC NDC 3.0 campaign. Young people will also receive updates on current progress being made by the PYCC. This forms part of a series of regional consultations which seek to:

  • Enhance the understanding of young people on NDC 3.0 and identify ways to facilitate greater involvement
  • Hear from youth across different regions on their priorities and aspirations for COP29 and youth participation in NDC 3.0.
  • Identify youth capacity building needs for NDC implementation and NDC tracking.
  • Consider how children and youth inputs can best be considered in the COP 29 Presidency planning.
  • Brainstorm ideas for youth programming and activities that can be included within the COP 29 Presidency program (e.g. thematic day, green zone, Pavilion, etc.)
  • Identify any key expectations from children and youth for the COP29 outcomes, as well as any issues regarding children and youth to be highlighted by COP29 Presidency in the deliberations
  • Facilitate an exchange among young people from sub regions on good practices for meaningful engagement of young people in the UNFCCC process and NDCs.
