YECAP Unconference 2 to Kick Off Regional Youth Dialogue on Climate Action ahead of Stockholm+50

Updated: Jan 19

Connecting youth with young climate activists and professionals across Asia and the Pacific

The Youth Empowerment in Climate Action Platform (YECAP) is hosting the virtual Unconference #2 on 28 February 2022 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. (GMT+7) as a kickoff event to the Climate Action Week in March and Regional Youth Dialogue on climate action in April, leading up to the Stockholm+50 conference in June 2022.

Unconference #2 aims to engage youth in Asia and the Pacific in important discussions about the impacts of climate change, to freely exchange knowledge, establish a strong network and organize youth-led actions. As part of YECAP's efforts, this casual conference will connect young participants to a platform that will empower them to take more action on climate change.

The virtual event is open to youth between the ages of 18 and 30. It will be held over a period of 120 minutes with young climate activists and professionals from various countries. The topics of discussion range from climate change and health, gender equality, energy, chemicals and waste management, biodiversity conservation, sustainable food systems, sustainable lifestyles, indigenous communities and more.

The participant-led and participant-driven sessions will be facilitated by YECAP Fellows. Participants can volunteer and design their own breakout rooms on #climatechange and #climateaction. These sessions will be based on the reflections of young people across the region. Each and every one of them can take ownership over the conversations and outcomes of the event in preparation for the larger, global conversations that are happening at the Stockholm+50 conference in June.
